In this review, I take a close look at Prayer Book Offices (2020) from Church Publishing Incorporated—a volume that gathers the Daily Office from the 1979 Book of Common Prayer into a single book.
On paper, it’s a compelling idea: Morning Prayer, Noonday Prayer, Evening Prayer, and Compline all in one place, designed to help us enter into the rhythm of daily prayer.
But how does it actually function in real life?
In this video, I walk through both the strengths and the struggles of this volume: its size, usability, design choices, and overall experience. This is not a portable prayer book, and for many, that will matter. At the same time, there are thoughtful features here that make it well-suited for a fixed place of prayer.
As always, I approach this review from a simple conviction:
The best prayer book is the one you will actually use.
If you’re considering adding Prayer Book Offices to your daily practice, or you’re exploring different ways to pray the Office, I hope this review helps you discern whether this book has a place in your life of prayer.
