“Stone Remembers”
By +Brian Ernest Brown
Stone remembers
what our hearts forget—
that holiness is carved slowly,
stroke by stroke,
in the long patience of God.
Figures etched in quiet relief
stand witness
to every dawn that breaks
upon this wall.
Saints, angels, and seekers—
their supple presence,
blessing the room
without a sound.
And the light—
oh, the light—
falls like a soft confession,
bidding a holy grace
once again
to visit this haven.
In this stillness
the cross becomes—
not just an icon of adoration,
but also a gathering place—
where past and present meet,
where shadows learn to listen,
and where the soul remembers
whom it follows.
